We can all agree that we love a celebration! Luckily for us, outside of the reasons for our personal celebrations, there are an abundance of extra ones to make plans for. Certainly, there are familiar traditional holidays you can choose from to celebrate, like Halloween, Thanksgiving, etc. But did you know there are many other things to celebrate? Taco Day, Garlic Lovers Day, Dessert Day, I Love Lucy Day, Pasta Day, American Beer Day, Cat Day, and of course Halloween! Ridiculous?

If you really enjoy needing a reason to celebrate, how about some of these to consider? Mad Hatter Day, Handbag Day, Dictionary Day, Chocolate Cupcake Day, Bologna Day, and of course let's not forget Candy Corn Day!

It turns out there is a reason to celebrate every day! So... if you're looking for something to observe to make yourself feel good or just for a humorous pick-me-up, there is a good chance you can check your calendar, and there's a holiday for that! For a good laugh, if nothing else!

So, raise a glass and root for your special day that you like! As for me... I'm waiting for 'Howl at the Moon Day!' Cheers!

David's onto something important here that goes way beyond silly holidays. As we get older, finding regular reasons to celebrate becomes more important for our mental and physical health. A lot of people ask me, "How do I stay positive during retirement when every day feels the same?" The answer is exactly what David suggests - create your own celebrations.

Here's the good news: celebrating doesn't have to cost money or require big plans. Whether it's National Coffee Day in September or your personal "I Finished That Book Day," marking small victories keeps us engaged and gives us something to look forward to. Research from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that seniors who maintain positive social activities and find reasons for joy have better health outcomes and stronger cognitive function.

Think of it this way - retirement gives you the time to actually celebrate National Pancake Day if you want to! A little joy in the everyday can make a big difference in how we experience these golden years.
