The leaves are turning (well, at least in places that have leaves), the air is cooling, and November is officially here. With it comes the beautiful rhythm of change, seasons shifting, families growing, and for many of us… Medicare plans evolving.
This fall has been especially meaningful for my family. I've officially been promoted from Grandpa of one to Grandpa of two! Our daughter out in California gave birth to a healthy baby girl recently, and Thea and I couldn't be happier. With this new granddaughter, we now have two precious grandkids; and a whole new reason to keep our health and financial plans in good shape.
Medicare's Annual Changes
And speaking of plans, Medicare's Annual Enrollment Period is in full swing. Just like the seasons, Medicare plans change every year. Insurance companies adjust premiums, provider networks, drug formularies, and benefits. Some plans improve; some don't. That's why it's so important to review your coverage now to make sure it still meets your needs in the year ahead.
If you responded to our request for updated medications and doctors, thank you! Our team has completed the research for your options, and if a change is needed, we've already sent your personalized recommendation. Be sure to check your email: your inbox (and maybe your spam folder too). If a plan change is recommended, follow the instructions provided.
Planning Beyond the Holidays
And while we're talking about planning ahead, here's another important reminder. As you gather with your family for the holidays, take a moment to think beyond the turkey and traditions. Have you reviewed your estate documents lately? We're here to help make sure everything is in place, your will, powers of attorney, healthcare directives, and beneficiary designations. Getting organized now means your loved ones will be left with cherished memories- not a mess of paperwork and guesswork.
So whether it's welcoming a new family member or preparing for a new year of Medicare, this season is a perfect time to pause, reflect, and plan ahead.
From my family to yours, wishing you a joyful Thanksgiving season.

Easy Eddie's Take
David's excitement about his growing family really resonates with me. Most people are surprised when they learn this, but major life changes like new grandchildren are actually perfect reminders to review your Medicare coverage during Open Enrollment, which runs from October 15 through December 7 each year. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services allows you to switch between Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage plans, or change your Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage during this window.
Here's what a lot of people ask me: "What exactly should I be looking for when I review my Medicare plan?" Think of it this way - you want to check three main things for the upcoming year. First, make sure your doctors and specialists are still in your plan's network. Second, verify that your prescription medications are covered under the plan's formulary, and third, compare the total costs including premiums, deductibles, and out-of-pocket maximums. For 2026, the standard Medicare Part B premium is $185 per month, though higher-income individuals may pay more through Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amounts.
And David's right about those estate planning documents too. A little preparation today can make a big difference for your loved ones tomorrow.
